David Modiano is a Managing Director of Capital Strategies at Thalēs Capital Partners. Most recently, David was a Partner and Head of Business Development at Mill Hill Capital, a New York-based credit hedge fund launched in 2016. Prior to that, David spent ten years sourcing, seeding, onboarding and growing early-stage hedge funds as second in command of the seeding team at Investcorp and Lyxor Asset Management. During his time at Investcorp and Lyxor Asset Management, David has personally reviewed, met with or performed in-depth diligence on nearly 1,500 hedge fund managers as a senior investment professional. David negotiated and closed sixteen hedge fund seed deals and drove manager growth.

Masanori Takaku founded Mizuho Securities Asia’s Investment Department, focusing on alternative investment opportunities. From 2012 to 2018, he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Horizon Asset, a UK-headquartered hedge fund, where he managed a Pan-Asian long/short equity portfolio and led a team of analysts. During this period, he increased Horizon’s gross exposure to APAC equities from USD 100 million to USD 1 billion. From 2006 to 2012, he was a proprietary trader at BarCap Asia and Citi Tokyo, managing event-driven strategies, index rebalancing, and fundamental long/short equities. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a degree in Chemistry.

Stephen Yuen founded the Private Capital Markets Department at Mizuho Securities. Before joining Mizuho Securities Asia in 2018, he managed a Pan-Asian proprietary trading business at the Hong Kong office of Credit Suisse. He spent six years at LIM Advisors as a Portfolio Manager, leading a team of analysts and managing the LIM Asia Special Situations Fund (USD 350 million AUM). From 2004 to 2009, he was an analyst at Och-Ziff Capital, a global multi-strategy hedge fund, and at Goldman Sachs, focusing on public and private equity transactions in Greater China. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University’s College of Social Studies with University Honors and Phi Beta Kappa and received the Freeman Asian Scholarship, a four-year full scholarship.
